Strange Markings
As Nix gradually settled into his new home, the family began to notice something peculiar about his appearance. His tabby-patterned coat seemed to grow more vibrant with every bath—almost as if it were glowing.
One afternoon, Emma pointed at his fur and exclaimed, "Look at his stripes!" Alex leaned in close and remarked, fascinated, "It looks like he has tiger stripes." The family laughed as they admired the strange patterns emerging on his coat. The more they gazed at these intricate markings, the more curious they became. These patterns were unlike anything they had ever seen on another dog, and they sparked questions about Nix's true origins. Although they joked about his "stylish" coat, no one realized just how many secrets those stripes would reveal in the days to come.
The Neighbors' Strange Glances
While taking Nix for walks, the Johnsons began to notice a shift in people's reactions. Neighbors would suddenly stop in their tracks or stare at the dog with a look of bewilderment. One day, Mrs. Brown asked wide-eyed, "What breed of dog is that?" Mr. Johnson replied, "We believe he's a Cane Corso." But his answer seemed only to deepen her confusion. With every outing, the public's curiosity about Nix grew more intense. Some people even crossed the street to avoid them, appearing visibly uneasy. One evening, Mr. Reynolds remarked hesitantly, "That dog of yours... he's certainly unique." Although the Johnsons laughed it off, they could not ignore the subtle tension and curiosity that Nix seemed to stir up. It planted a seed of doubt in their minds—one that would prove difficult to shake.
