Official Adoption
With their minds made up, the Johnsons began filling out the adoption paperwork. The forms were lengthy, but their excitement never wavered. As Mr. Johnson signed the final document, he smiled at his wife and said, "This feels like the beginning of something big." Mrs. Johnson nodded in agreement, her gaze resting on the children, who were already playing happily with Nix. "He is exactly what we needed." Once all the formalities were complete, the shelter staff congratulated them and walked them out to their car. On the drive home, Nix lay quietly in the back seat, officially a new member of the Johnson family.
A Strange Beginning
The Johnsons had no idea that they were about to experience something far beyond a typical pet adoption. On the drive home, Nix lay quietly in the back seat, watching the passing scenery outside the window with a blend of alertness and calm that caught Mrs. Johnson’s attention. "He’s much more relaxed than I expected," she remarked.
Mr. Johnson replied, "Yes, he has adapted remarkably well." The children chattered excitedly about the walks, games, and adventures they would share with their new companion in the days to come. Everything seemed perfectly normal, yet beneath the surface, something unusual was stirring. Little did the family know that Nix would soon become the center of a mystery they could never have anticipated.
