Level 2: Basic Obedience & Focus

Transitioning from simple habits to active focus. This stage builds the foundation for communication between you and your dog.

01 Eye Contact & Focus

Focus is the prerequisite for all training. If the dog isn't looking at you, they aren't listening.

  • The "Look" Command: Hold a treat near your eyes. When the dog makes eye contact, mark (e.g., "Yes!") and reward.

  • Distraction Training: Gradually introduce minor distractions while maintaining focus.

02 Sit & Down

Basic positions that help calm the dog and prepare them for more complex tasks.

Luring Technique

Use a treat to guide their nose up for a sit or down for a lie-down position.

Hand Signals

Introduce distinct hand signals for each position to enhance communication.

03 Loose Leash Walking

Walking together should be a pleasant experience, not a tug-of-war.

💡

Expert Tip: If the dog pulls, stop immediately. Only move forward when the leash is loose.
